- Driftwood Mirrors & Frames -
All the frames are individually hand crafted in Cornwall and are made with driftwood collected locally on nearby Cornish beaches and are exclusive to interiors@tides.
The frames are made by applying pieces of driftwood onto a driftwood backing frame using pins or nails, the layers are then painstakingly built up and intertwined to produce each unique mirror. As the frames are made from recycled wood, no two frames are the same. As you can see by the photos below some frames are empty, awaiting either mirror or glass - giving you the option to choose and create something totally unique for your home.
I think these frames are fabulous. The artist who creates them arranges the wood in flowing and dynamic patterns, reflecting the environment from which they came. There are alot of cheaper driftwood frames currently flooding the market from the Far East that do not have the subtle qualities of these frames. I have tried to show them as clearly as possible in the photographs, but as this is only 2D there are limitations, when seen hanging on a wall with mirror included they really do look stunning.
Please note: More mirror frames will be added in the next few weeks.
For specific requests, commissions can be undertaken - please email or call for a quote.

- Hand Turned Wooden Bowls -
The technique of wood turning dates back many thousands of years and the wood turning lathe is thought to be one of the oldest machines invented by man. Since then the equipment may have improved but the basic principles of the wood turning tools being hand held rather than rigidly mounted are still the same. Each wooden bowl shown here has been turned and finished by hand and each one is pleasing to the eye, very tactile and unique.
All of our bowls are suitable either as a decorative piece or for food as they are polished with a food safe organic lemon and nut oil. If used for food (ie nuts and nibbles for the smaller ones, salad or fruit for the larger ones they can be washed with warm soapy water and every so often re-oiled with any food oil to re-nourish the wood (such as sunflower, walnut, vegetable) but not olive oil as it goes tacky. If used decoratively they can be polished with any non aerosol furniture polish or beeswax.
This unique bowl is made from heavy reclaimed oak sea defences from the South coast near Eastbourne. It has polished ends and the weathered surfaces are hand burnished to produce a natural finish. We've included extra photos to show the detail.
